A large number stopped by to eat and to watch the movie showing Slumdog Millionaire.

OCT 26 Monday

Eastman Company presented NSBE with a $500 dollar check after the meeting! They also had a scholarship opportunity for sophomores in engineering (contact for more information). Food was provided.

BGPSA & NSBE: Walk for Eduction (Saturday, October 24th)

The Walk for Education occurred on Saturday, October 24th off of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue. This event, organized by University of Tennessee graduate student Jonathan Reid, is a first step in many to bridge the gap in communication between the black community on UT’s campus to the black community in East Knoxville. Volunteers for this event split up into two groups—one group walked down Linden and Parkview to introduce themselves to the community while the second group prepared for the cookout in the Malibu parking lot.
The turn out for both community members and volunteers was decent.
